New year's resolution / Novoletna zaobljuba

New year is coming and although this blog hasn't been as active as I hoped it would be, I plan to change that.
So my new year's resolution for 2016 is:
Write at least one blog post every week.
I've been so frustrated because I didn't have (or didn't make) time to post here.
I started this blog so that I wouldn't forget what I love to do in my spare time and share my projects with anyone who might be interested in them. In the last few months I got a new puppy, new job and started a new personal business project so time just passed by so quickly.
I've decided though that I will make no more excuses for not being more consistent with the blog.

So for now I wish you all a happy and productive new year 2016.

Spirit of new year in the woods. / Novoletno vzdušje v gozdu.


Nove leto se neusmiljeno bliža in čeprav letos tale blog ni bil tako aktiven, kot bi si želela, nameravam to spremeniti.
Zato se moja novoletna zaobljuba glasi;
Vsak teden napiši vsaj eno objavo na blogu.
V letu, ki se izteka, sem bila precej razočarana, da nisem imela (sli si vzela) časa za pisanje objav.
Blog sem začela pisati, da ne bi pozabila, kaj rada počnem in ustvarjam v prostem času in da bi lahko delila moje projekte z vsemi, ki jih utegnejo zanimati. V zadnjih mesecih sem dobila novega kužka, novo službo in začela postavljati zaseben poslovni projekt. Časa za tale kotiček pa je kar zmanjkalo.
Sedaj pa sem se odločila, da v prihodnjem letu ne bom več imela izgovorov, da ne bi redno objavljala tule gor.

Za sedaj vsem, ki morda po kakšnem naključju berete tole objavo, želim srečno in produktivno leto 2016.

My first garden / Moj prvi vrt

It feels like June has gone by in a second and here it is July and first day when I found time to update my (not-what-well-updated) blog. :)

Today I want to show you my first garden.
I've always eaten home-grown vegetables, because I was lucky enough to grow up in a house with a garden. My mum is a passionate gardner and when I moved to my current home it kind of came natural to me to continue the tradition and take care of my first garden.
My garden is huge and my mother and gradmother still help me out from time to time, but other that that I'm super proud to show my progress!

Zdi se mi, kot da je junij minil v sekundi in že je tu julij in prvi dan, ko sem našla čas za posodobitev mojega (ne-preveč-redno-posodobljenega) bloga. :)

Danes bi vam rada predstavila moj prvi vrt.
Odkar pomnim sem jedla domačo zelenjavo, saj sem med tistim srečneži, ki smo odraščali v hiši z vrtom. Moja mami je strastna vrtnarka in ko sem se preselila v moj trenutni dom, se mi je zdelo nekako naravno, da nadaljujem s tradicijo in skrbim za moj prvi vrt.
Vrt je ogromen in tako mami kot tudi babi mi še vedno včasih priskočita na pomoč, drugače sem pa super ponosna, da vam lahko pokažem svoj napredek!

Wild strawberry jam / Marmelada iz gozdnih jagod




It has been about a year since I've moved into the house where I'm currently living (yes, this is the house by the woods in the blog title :)). One of my first projects, next to the herbal garden (you will be able to read about it in one of my next posts) was part of a house garden, that was reserved for wild strawberries.
Yes, there was no misspelling up there: wild strawberries! I'm a huge fan of strawberries especially the wild variety and why should I just pick them in the forest, when I can have them planted in my own garden? And so I used pebbles to limit two smaller living spaces for wild strawberries and started to plant them.
A year later I'm happy to report that the decision has turned out to be the right one. Wild strawberries are very grateful plants, that need absolutely no maintenance and have given me some delicious fruits.
Actually, because there were so many of them, I've decided to make 100% wild strawberry jam.
Of course there is not much of it, but it's so fragrant and delicious and tastes amazing spreaded over bread for breakfast.

Wild strawberry jam recipe:

What you'll need:
- 1700g of wild strawberries
- 350g of sugar
- 1 x Dr Oetker Gelfix super
- 2 packs of vanilla sugar
- 1x lemon

 Wild strawberries should be cleaned of any parts and bugs, but not washed. Add sugar, Gelfix, two spoons of regular sugar and both packs of vanilla sugar. Put the mixture in a pot, heat, mix and mash (to taste - I leave a lot of strawberries in one piece). Add the rest of the sugar and heat it up to 100°C and stir for 3 minutes. Remove the mixture from the heat, whist in the juice of one lemon and fill up the jars. Wrap the jars with jam in a blanket, so that they cool down slowly.

Približno eno leto je minilo, dokar sem se vselila v hišo, kjer trenutno živim (ja, to je ta hiša ob gozdu v naslovu bloga :)). Eden mojih prvih projektov, poleg zeliščnega vrta (ki ga bo moč videti v eni od prihodnijh objav) je bil delček hišnega vrta, namenjen goznim jagodam.
Da, prav ste prebrali: gozdnim jagodam! Sem namreč velika oboževalka jagod, sploh gozdnih in zakaj bi jih nabirala samo v gozdu, če jih imam lahko tudi na svojem vrtu? Tako sem s prodniki zagradila dva manjša dela vrta in tako omejila prostor jagodam, ter začela s sajenjem.

Leto dni kasneje lahko z veseljem potrdim, da se je odločitev izkazala za pravo, saj so gozdne jagode zelo hvaležne rastline, ki praktično ne potrebujejo nege, obdarile pa so me s slastnimi plodovi.
Ker jih je bilo toliko, da nisem vedela kam z njimi, sem skuhala marmelado iz 100% gozdnih jagod.
Seveda je ni veliko, je pa dišeča in zelo okusna, prava delikatesa, čudovito se prileže na kruhu za zajtrk.

Recept za marmelado iz gozdnih jagod:

Potrebujete:
- 1700g gozdnih jagod

- 350g sladkorja
- 1x Dr Oetker Džemfix
- 2x vanilin sladkor
- 1x limona

Gozdne jagode očistimo smeti in žuželk, vendar jih ne peremo. Pretresemo jih v posodo, dodamo Džemfix, dve žlici sladkorja in vanilin sladkor. Mešanico segrevamo in pretlačimo (po okusu, jaz pustim kar nekaj jagod celih). Nato dodamo preostali sladkor in segrejemo do 100°C, kjer mešamo 3min. Mešanico odstavimo z ognja, vmešamo sok ene limone in napolnimo kozarčke za vlaganja. Kozarčke zavijemo v odejo, da se počasi ohladijo.

I've been looking for these for quite a while now. Found them all on Etsy. :D
Now I only have decide if I'm going to buy one or make one by myself.

Že nekaj časa jih iščem, našla pa sem jih seveda na Etsyju. :D
Ali ga bom kupila ali naredila sama, se pa še nisem odločila.

Hello world! / Pozdravljen svet!


Hello all who have intentionally or by accident stumbled upon this blog.
If everything goes as planned you'll be able to read an easy-going lifestyle blog of a student, which happens to have a bit too much time on her hands during her final year of studies.
All that extra time is spent gardening and making simple on-budget house DIY.
From time to time I also wonder on the wast internet and usually I find stuff that I find interesting. I'll share those things with you as well. :)

V kolikor bo šlo vse po načrtih, boste na tem mestu lahko brali lahkoten lifestyle blog študentke, ki ima v času absolventa pač malo preveč časa, ki ga zato posveti vrtnarjenju in cenovno ugodnim, naredi-sam, preprostim rešitvam v hiši.
